BSBSS00122 Compliance Skill Set

Compliance Skill Set

If you are required to work within compliance frameworks and evaluate your RTO’s compliance against the requirements of the Standards for RTOs, the NVR Act or similar, this course is a must.

During this course, you will develop the skills and knowledge to interpret, evaluate and work within the compliance frameworks of an RTO. This includes risk management best practices and the skills and tools to address areas of concern, compliance gaps and areas for improvement. Essentially you will develop the skills and knowledge to future-proof your RTO’s compliance plans and systems.

Once you have completed this course, you will be able to identify and manage your RTO’s compliance requirements and contribute to maintaining and evaluating your RTO’s ongoing compliance.

Why is RTO Compliance so important?

With the VET sector being as highly regulated as it is, your RTO’s compliance with the NVR Act, the Standards for RTOs and the various other laws and regulations is critical.  ASQA’s focus on Provider Self-Assurance means that your RTO must be able to demonstrate practices, systems and processes to critically examine its performance and student outcomes on an ongoing basis.

As a VET Compliance Practitioner, there are several skills, abilities and knowledge areas that are essential for you to be 100% effective in your RTO Compliance role, including:

  • a thorough, in-depth understanding of the correct interpretation of the Standards for RTOs
  • a thorough, in-depth understanding of to effectively implement the Standards for RTOs in your RTO’s compliance system
  • the skills and knowledge to rectify non-compliances that have been identified during internal compliance reviews

If you are required to work within compliance frameworks and evaluate your RTO’s compliance against the requirements of the Standards for RTOs, the NVR Act or similar, this course is a must.

You will complete the following 3 units of competency:

Upgrade your Compliance Skill Set to Compliance Plus

AICP’s Compliance Plus program incorporates Module 1 of our new non-accredited The RTO Standards Unpacked! course in the CIV of RTO Compliance.  This course has been designed by Alex Schroder, Australia’s leading Sanction Management Specialist, Forensic Compliance Auditor and Administrative Appeals Tribunal Specialist.

Alex is a member of the inaugural ASQA Stakeholder Liaison Group (SLG) and various ASQA sub-committees focused on which is focused on self-assurance, audit practices, online learning in the VET sector and more. Alex is also an ITECA QLD State Committee Member, a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a qualified lawyer, and the developer of the Nationally Accredited 1CIV in RTO Compliance and the Diploma of RTO Compliance Management.

Given that may of the Clauses within the Standards for RTOs interact with one another, and without a comprehensive understanding of each clause and the relationship between the various clauses, your effectiveness as a compliance practitioner is limited and you cannot be fully effective unless you have a complete and comprehensive understanding of the interpretation and application of the clauses within the Standards for RTOs.

In Module 1 of the RTO Standards Unpacked! we unpack the Standards to a practical level where the meanings and interpretations of each Standard/Clause are explained for everyday use.

At the end of this component, you will have the skills and knowledge to:

  • understand the full meaning of the clauses in the Standards for RTOs
  • understand how the various clauses in the Standards for RTOs are interlinked
  • determine how each clause within the Standards for RTOs is interpreted for ongoing compliance
  • identify the compliance requirements of each clause in the Standards for RTOs

implement the Standards for RTOs in your RTO’s day-to-day operations

All AICP learners can upgrade to the Compliance Plus Program for an additional $550 (this is a saving of $345 off the cost of Module 1 of the RTO Standards Unpacked! course).
